Horse Riding with Wilder Ways

Wilder Ways make a splash along Argyll's Secret Coast.

This April (1st - 27th) Wilder Ways will be taking its unique brand of adventure riding to the southern tip of the Cowal Peninsula to enjoy a month of exhilarating riding along Argyll's Secret Coast, with a fabulous range or exciting riding opportunities including secret coves and bays, woodland trails, open hill land and lochs. In the evening you have the opportunity to relax in the infinity pool and hydro pools at Portavadie, always a truly magical end to a hard day in the saddle.

Wilder Ways offer a range of products from half day rides to week long all-inclusive holidays. Half day and full day rides are available throughout the month subject to availability. Bespoke trips made up of multiple days may also be available by arrangement. Adventure: Coastal Quest - A short break Exploring Argyll's Secret Coast, its beaches and hidden castles. April 3rd - 5th.

Description: Join Wilder Ways to explore some of the hidden, rocky coves and trails of Argyll's Secret Coast. This 2 1/2 day trail ride will carry you through this unspoilt landscape, discovering empty beaches, ancient woodland and tranquil meadows, with total comfort each evening to rest your weary legs.

Trip Details:
Start - 12 noon on Day 1 at the pop-up riding centre at Stillaig Farm, Portavadie.
Transfers - At additional cost transfers are available from Glasgow airport or other locations as agreed. Once you are here, all local transport is included.
Riding - 2 1/2 days.
Lunches - Picnic on the hoof, provided by Wilder Ways.
Accommodation - 2 nights at Portavadie, Loch Fyne
Evening Meals - Dine at the Lodge Kitchen & Bar at Portavadie.
Other - Enjoy the luxury of a good soak in an outdoor hydro pool and heated infinity pool.
Finish - 5pm on Day 3 at the pop-up riding centre at Stillaig Farm, Portavadie.

The Ride: Over the three days you will explore over 35km of the Cowal peninsula and climb to the mini-summit of Cnoc Polphail at 100m.

You'll ride into a hidden cove with stunning views out to the Isle of Arran, along old farm tracks and learn to navigate across open hill ground by the plants under your hooves. This trail takes you past an ancient standing stone on the horizon and you'll explore ancient woods and golden beaches ideal for kicking up some sand and deep paddles. On the last day you'll picnic by a ruined loch-side castle and wander into the ghostly landscape of an abandoned hill settlement.

Your horse will be ready for you each morning, but if you want to get your "hands dirty" you are welcome to help.
